Stone Wood (20-60cm) 9

Description:

This piece is truly incredible, for a small piece of wood 20cm in length it weighs a whopping 1.6kg, practically all of the weight is in the knot.

The transition from the twisting, smooth knot to the intact bark and finally, fractured branch is amazing.

I must admit I did pretend I was a cave man for a few minutes with it.

Pictures are taken while the wood is dry, colouration will be different when saturated.

As the wood is dry it will initially float and will release tannins into the water.
You can help the wood sink faster buy either boiling the wood for 2 hours (this will also reduce the amount of remaining tannins.)
Alternatively attaching the wood to some stone or burying into your substrate.
